Matt Serra gets the honor of setting up the quarter finals due to his dominance of the previous 8 matchups. There is one goal for Serra, and that is to keep Hughes on the ropes and to drive him out of the competition. After interviewing all the fighters on Serra's team to see who they wanted to fight.

The first round began fast with Kolsci landing a solid thai kick within the first 10 seconds. This lead Danzig to hold back for another 45 seconds before he landed a knee to the head that caused Kolsci to go to the ground. From the ground Danzig controlled the fight. Kolsci would scramble back to his feet numerous times and tried numerous take down attempts but Danzig would ride him back to the mat. Kolsci tried to rush Danzig after replacing his mouth piece which lead to the rear naked choke at the end of the first round. Danzig showed his worth pound for pound here and he is the favorite for taking this years series.
